Who are we?
Approach Media is an established collaborative multimedia production agency based in Vancouver BC. Approach Media now works in cooperation with a network of other skilled professionals in the media and arts field to bring a new level of digital storytelling quality through a wide variety of media, both locally and internationally.
Projects span a wide range of audio and visual work from international corporate infomercial filming contracts to small local business promotional video production and audio recording work. An underlying and key focus in our work remains producing engaging films and mini-documentaries that give insight into the lives and work of the talented craftsmen, artists, musicians and people we meet along the way.
Matt Miles
Producer / Director / DOP
Matt is a director, producer and cinematographer committed to documenting the environmental and cultural issues that affect our world.
Since founding Approach Media ten years ago, Matt has built a reputation for human-led storytelling. Whether he's working with NGOs, commercial clients, remote documentary or legacy media, Matt delivers content that connects to audiences on an emotional level, to global critical acclaim.
Born and raised in Oxford, England, Matt studied music at university before moving to Canada in 2010, where life as a touring musician, hunter and seeker of wild places still occupy much of his free time.
Jayce Hawkins
Producer / DOP / Drone Operator
Jayce is a producer, cinematographer and drone operator with a range of expertise in the field of media production. His passion for imagery and the human condition is reflected in his work, which has taken him to Canada’s most northern communities and across North America.
Currently based in Vancouver, BC. Jayce spent 17 years between Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Denmark. His travels have fuelled a desire to tell stories that help us celebrate, reflect, and learn. Jayce has worked with hundreds of clients across a wide spectrum of subject matter and his films have been nominated for multiple awards.

Our team is a varied and revolving group of media producers, image-makers, photographers and designers who are called upon to collaborate depending on project requirements.
After founding Approach Media in 2011 we set about establishing ourselves as a company that uses a cinematic and contemporary approach in all aspects of our work, from corporate advertisement to internationally acclaimed and award-winning documentary. Creating compelling stories and conveying important messages is our business, from concept to critically acclaimed results. With our expanding team and expertise in aerial image capture we have expanded our skillset and offerings into the LiDAR and photogrammetry sectors, combining our cinematic expertise with cutting edge digital measurement technology.
